Welcome to you, esteemed colleague, co-conspirator, sibling, kindred
Rooting in relationship makes it difficult, impossible for me to look at any one of us as separate
Practicing relationship takes work of re-wiring, unlearning, shedding
I need a paradigm to grab on to while my current paradigm crumbles
Here in this website is a paradigm brought into focus by Angeles Arrien and her work organizing cross cultural indigenous worldviews. She talks about how in all indigenous cultures, people return to these elements to re-center:
EARTH/SOUND/STORY/SILENCE/RITUAL
If white isn’t a culture, can I find uncover my culture through centering myself in this way?
This is the main research question
I see myself as
a white, american, art rocker, cusp of gen x & millenial, tomboy
and
a midwife remembering her indigenous european roots, a witch supporting loving change in the apocolypse, a grandmother, a woman of the wheel, a great great granddaughter, a visionary, a small seed in a field of seeds, flowers and hawks
I am letting go of desperation for a place in the world in the currency of status, of labels, of positions. I let go of power that is “out there”, in what i can accompish, achieve, win
i am rooting in my relationship with erotic power: the energy inherent in my connection to life, to air fire water earth, the dirt that grows the herbs, my nose that recognizes the herbs, the blood, the songs that pour from my belly to say thank you i need you i am here we are here
I am rooting in the power of giving and receiving and the belonging that i experience pours over overflows
i am connecting to my ancestors and remembering that i don’t do anything alone
I am enough
in the power that lives in my relationship with my soul
The vision i feel perceive witness touch is arts creative expressions and growing food re-weaving together in cultural containers cermony ritual of the most fabulous multicultural colors and weavings
feeding each other
My agenda is to get free: to experience the truth of who i am and to act in support of what matters to me.
